Photina™ was created by French lettering artist José Mendoza y Almeida specifically for the new phototypesetting technologies emerging in the early 1970s. It is a spicy text face with bite, its crisp forms seasoned with calligraphic flavor. Mendoza speaks lovingly of his creation: he says that Photina is "neither too stiff nor too pretty, neither too stark nor too lovely."
