ITC Ziggy Font
ITC Ziggy started out as &147;phone doodles in the early 70s,&148; recalls type designer Bob Alonso. Shelved for many years, the sketches were recently rediscovered by Alonso, who realized they brought back the 70s - the period of Peter Max calendars and psychedelic posters. Although &147;Ziggy&148; was not a name particularly related to the time, Alonso liked his sketches for the letter &147;Z&148; best. Alonso created ITC Ziggy in Illustrator and then digitized the typeface in Fontographer. He points out that with the elaborate flourishes within this typeface no two letters are the same. ITC Ziggy reminds Alonso of &147;elephant bellbottoms&148; and its style as a display face instantly evokes a specific era and a nostalgic mood.
